Welcome to Ashland, Kentucky.
Ashland is located in Boyd County along Highway 23 on the banks of the Ohio River near Greenbo Lake State Resort Park.
Located in a region that produces chemicals, lumber, steel, oil, and natural gas, Ashland is a river and rail shipping point with large repair yards. Its many manufactures include marble and paper products, consumer goods, apparel, furniture, and construction materials. Tobacco and alfalfa are raised and there is dairying.
The city is part of a tristate urbanized area that includes Ironton, Ohio, and Huntington, W.Va. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 21,981.

Notable people from Ashland include Chuck Woolery, Lynndie England, Naomi Judd, and Wynonna Judd. The Paramount Arts Center, an important part of theater in Kentucky, is situated in Ashland. Ashland is part of the Tri-Cities area of Kentucky, Ohio, and West Virginia. Huntington-Ashland-Ironton area has a metropolitan area of about 289,000 people. All three cities have rather large and interesting downtowns and Ashland is no exception.
Downtown has the beautiful Paramount Theater, hotels, restaurants and cafes, along with the Highlands Museum and Discovery Center. Around 1854, Ashland was built by the Kentucky Iron, Coal, and Manufacturing Company and the city keeps its industrial heritage alive.

The aroma of cheesy, tomatoey pizza filtered through the air at Bellefonte Countrya SClub Thursday, and the chefs, all 13 or younger, whetted their appetites for the spicy favorite with a couple of chocolate-dipped strawberries, which they made themselves.
SBDC spotlight: Phil Clarka s Martial Arts Academy
Phil Clark began teaching martial arts for the Ashland Area YMCA in 2003. Before to long, his classes were filled to capacity so he subleased some space in downtown Ashland and opened his own martial arts academy with his wife Cara.
